Personal Projects
Designing is my constant passion. Whenever I have the choice between buying something or making it myself, I always choose to create. With each project, I learn something new and venture into unexplored areas of design. Here are just a few of the many projects I work on in my free time.
4Runner Camping Build
While traditional camping is enjoyable, having a setup in your car is much more convenient. My goal for my car camper build was to create a modular sleeping arrangement with ample storage and a functional kitchen setup. Many current designs are rigid and uninviting, so I aimed to create a space that is both warm and simple.
The final result is a removable, straightforward design. It includes four LED lights in the hatch, a customized kitchen drawer for all my essentials, and a second battery for increased power consumption. This battery is connected to a fuse box, enabling a more robust and customizable electrical setup.
There are two drawers for storage in the back, each with a removable top that doubles as a cooking table. The passenger-side drawer is equipped with 3D-printed organizers to hold all cooking essentials, while the other drawer provides general storage.
A large piece of plywood rests on a ledge behind the drawers and another behind the front seats. This creates a platform to put down a 4” foam mattress for sleeping. This plywood piece is removable, allowing the back seats to be used while keeping the drawers in place.
All surfaces are covered in outdoor carpet, and the drawer fronts are coated with a durable polyurethane finish. I use these drawers every day, and they have proven to be more useful than I ever expected.
Flat-Pack Desk
Unable to find a desk with all the features I needed for under $600, I decided to build one myself. the desk is constructed entirely from 3/4” Baltic Birch plywood, I appreciate the natural color and beauty of this wood. The desk can be easily disassembled for moving, requiring only 10 bolts.
A hidden outlet is located on the right end, and a 10-outlet power strip is built into the supporting frame. The legs feature a channel that seamlessly guides the power cable to the floor. I love this desk, but V2 is coming.
Commuter Bike Bag
I wanted to learn sewing and needed a frame bag for my commuter bike, so I decided to create a custom bag. This straightforward design includes an elastic slot for my U-lock, a large pocket for my jacket, and a slim pocket for my phone.
Everything is constructed from waterproof materials and zippers. I achieved my goal of creating a simple piece that perfectly matched the style and fit of my bike.
